I’ve heard from a friend that Cebas psd-manager doesn’t support Vray’s antialiasing.
Is this the case?
psd-manager can for example create an antialiased matte for an object of your choice. But the matte will only be antialiased if the renderer can create a multi-layered G-Buffer (like the 3ds max Scanliner does). Combustion also needs a multi-layered G-Buffer to do proper antiaiasing (e.g. if you apply effects to individual objects of an RPF file). Vray 1.09 can not create a multi-layered G-Buffer but Vlado promised the following for 1.5:
VRay 1.5 will support correct G-Buffer channels with the correct coverage values for all objects, including effects like antialiasing filters, DOF and motion blur.

so in layman’s terms, no, it can’t, but in version 1.5 it can (when its out).
I’m also waiting for V1.5 so I can buy a seat of psd manager and take advantage of such a great plugin. I just hope they don’t forget about this antialiasing feature
well 1.45.70 is out and it supports a lot of g-buffers.
i was able to extract render node id’s in combustion (via RPF), and they seem to be anti-aliased.
nice to apply effects to individual objects…
Any thoughts about adding a PSD output in VRay?
that’s good to know. I’m personally waiting until 1.5 is out. I read that 1.45 had some serious slowness with glossy regfractions (even more thatn normal) and I’m in the middle of a couple of projecs so I can’t upgrade now. But it looks promising!

the problem with glossies seems to be related to old files.
i recreated a 1.09 scene with new parameters, it was a sea surface with glossy refraction, translucency and some funky stuff…
it renders double as fast with 1.45 and there is no more flickering.

thats thru, the slowlyness only is a thing of old scenes, that when they get converted to the new 1.47, get slow because their settings usualy are to high for the new standart settings. Especial for glossys and also with qmc. the new standart valu in qmc is 8 also in glossys.
