Chaos Cosmos causing "incorrect file Structure" error on mac

Hi

Every time that I download a object, a trees or any other objects from Chaos Cosmos causes “incorrect file Structure”.

I tried the file before the download and works, after download a tree for example the file is “incorrect file Structure”.

I notice also that the materials on the material preview is transparent, seems that doesn’t load the texture from the downloaded material.

Hello francisco_fernandes,

Please share:

  • Cinema 4D, V-Ray, and Cosmos versions
  • OS version
  • Whether the download folder is on a shared drive or locally on your machine
  • Screenshot of the issues
  • Logs from /Library/Chaos/Cosmos
  • Log from Console (Cinema 4D)

Does this happen in all projects, or only in one particular scene?

  • If the issue happens in every project, please create a new simple scene, add a single Cosmos asset, and check if the issue appears. If it does, please send us that simple scene where the problem is reproducible so we can inspect it.
  • If it happens in only one project, please send us that scene with its assets (either attach it here or submit a ticket) so we can investigate further.

Hey Francisco,

Thank you for the report. This might be an issue with your folder/file path rules on MacOS/ admin rights. Perhaps you relocate the existing Cosmos files to an external drive, and you must update the rules for them.

Cheers,

Hi boyan.

Thanks for the reply.

I setup all my scenes on the Mac, and then I make the final renders on windows (because the machine is much better).

I use the server for the location of the Chaos Cosmos assets. I don’t know if this workflow is the best? But I think is better to use this workflow instead of make a “save project with Assets…” and then open on windows machine.

How do I update the rules on Mac?

Could you tell me what is the best workflow in my case.

Many thanks

Hi @zhanet.georgieva .

Thanks for your reply

I have : Cinema 4d 2025.3.1, Cosmos version 2025.10.15
- OS version sequoia 15.6.1
- Its a shared drive on the Server

Many thanks

Hi francisco_fernandes,

I tried to reproduce the issue using a similar setup: working on macOS and rendering on Windows, both pointing to the same shared drive for Cosmos Assets Download Folder, but I wasn’t able to trigger the “Incorrect file structure” error on my end.
What type of shared drive you are using?

Another workflow you can try is rendering through Distributed Rendering. That is, start the render from your macOS machine, but use your Windows machine as the render node. You can find more information regarding this method in our Documentation. Please let us know if you need assistance with this setup.

Thanks zhanet.

I don’t know if this is related with the problem but every time that I update the Chaos Cosmos I have problems.

I already resolve, :p, i did “kill” the cbservice.

Thanks zhanet
