Chaos Scatter Surface Color Map Improvement

Hi Chaos Team,

It would be great if the Surface Color map in Chaos Scatter could support per-element color variation inside scattered objects.

Right now, the map applies color per scattered object, which causes unnatural color blocks when scattering grouped assets like grass patches. Ideally, the surface color should affect each individual element within the scattered object for more natural blending.

It’s best you log the idea in the Portal so people can vote on it. Meanwhile, you can detach the elements and scatter them separately.

Hi Hemit,

I can’t do that unfortunately. I’m trying to scatter grass patches in a very large area. It’s been almost impossible because of Scatter poor performance. Trying to scatter individual elements would be simply impossible.

Hi! What stops you from dialing the subgeometry with mutisubtex?

I don’t need just random color variation. I need colors to follow a specific map applied on the ground.

Let me ask you: What stops you from adding this simple feature?

There should be no appreciable difference in performance using a single scatter with 10k instances, and 10 with 1k each of the same node.
If you see any, we’d like a scene that shows it so to be able to fix it.
