Clipper Mesh not working with GPU

Hello All,

I saw a forum post about the clipper mesh not working with GPU IPR in 2018, but it looked as if the issue was resolved. However, I’m having the same problem where the clipper mesh (a simple cube) only works when I select CPU as the renderer. Is there something I’m missing?

Simple Specs:
Windows 7 64
CPU - Intel i7 5960X
GPU - 2x TitanX Maxwell
Software- Maya 2018.5

Thanks,
JRT

Mesh clipping is still not implemented on the GPU unfortunately; only the planar clipper works. It’s on the “to do” list to research how to implement it on the GPU.

Thanks Vlado, is true for Vray Toon Rendering as well? (the environmental setting, not the materials)

Yes; we just need to figure out how all of this fits with NVidia’s RTX stuff - it’s not exactly straightforward to code for it.

Great, thanks very much for the info. I’ll keep my eye out for that stuff in the subsequent releases.

It does still not work on GPU.
Without this feature we are bound to CPU rendering in our pipeline.

This is still on our to-do list, but we haven’t gotten to it yet.

Thanks for the info Alex.
Its a super important feature for us.

Any news? We could need it really.

Hey @oglu

This implementation is nearly finished on GPU we have been working on this for a while, if you are interested in testing message me your Email please

Best,
Muhammed

Thanks Muhammed great to hear its coming.
