Hi All,
Is it just me, or the (HSV) Exponential color mapping really reduce the contrast of the image? :?: :?: :?:

This is using Linear Multiply Dark:1 Bright:1

and Exponential Dark:2 Bright:2

the exponential colormapping makes sure that there are no compleatly burnt out parts of the image, I think thats what its there for… And since you have an extreme amount of light in your first pic (the one with linear mapping) it has to reduce the contrast of the image alot to do this.

I reduced light intensiity, lowered down the dark value, and it looks better now. :slight_smile:

This is after some minor adjustment in Photoshop.

Looks really good. What were the values you ended up using?

Exponential, Dark: 0.5 Bright: 2.5
I also increase secondary bounce from default 3 to 8, then use photoshop to add a 5% saturation to cover the saturation lost. :smile:

Agreed- you really have some perfect coloring on that now. Did increasing the bounces make that much of a difference? Thanks for the settings.
