This is quite amaizing. I didnt know about this now, but found it fascinating! In around 1905 some russian guys figured out a way to make colored photographs by taking 3 photos with red green and blue glass infront of the lens, then composite the negatives and got the color to show through. These images are taken in 1905-1915.

This made me curious as to when the first color pictures where taken.

they actually rescanned his images in 2001, and recomposited the red green and blue negatives. So, these images are from todays technology. Since back then they couldnt do a very clean composite.

There was an exhibit on him at the Smithsonian a few years ago. Unfortunately more people didn’t try out his technique… the results are spectacular.
Morbid’s right in that they were composited using today’s digital technology. He showed them off by projecting them onto a screen through color filters (just like a projection TV!). I’m sure it was amazing for anyone who witnessed it.
