The ColorCorrect plugin can cause shading problems with VRay (red dots, bright spots etc). This seems to be because of bugs in the ColorCorrect plugin itself and is not a VRay problem specifically.
This was tested with version 3.0.3.6 of ColorCorrect.
hmm, I’ve been using CC w/ vray on different projects w/ lot of maps affected by CC, and so far I haven’t had any issues…but thanks for the warning…hope things will keep going the way they are (crossing my fingers) 8)
You can try this: Take a standard material and put a noise map in the diffuse slot. Then two colorcorrect nodes on top of the noise. The lower one with contrast 400 and the colorcorrect on top with gamma >1.
Standard material
diffuse:
colorcorrect (Gamma >1)
+--->colorcorrect(Contrast 400)
+----->Noise
Yeah, one time I tried to turn a map of reddish tuna into a green garnish with color correct… apparently I’d gone too far, overbrights were everyyywhere.
Another note about using CC with HDRI maps -- I’ve had problems, but have successfully been able to hue-shift them using HSL space. I’ve found that if I have RGB space ON, even with no adjustments made, VRay freaks out and takes a loonnggg looongg time to calculate the HDRI.
I’ve been using it for a while now, with both Max 9 and Max 2008 in combination with VRay 1.50.00 and 1.50.17 but haven’t had any problems. So I guess it has been fixed over the past three years
