As of December 2021, 3DS Max 2020, 2021, 2022 with V-Ray 5, update 2.1, I am getting this issue.
I googled, came to this thread (which was last commented on in 2019) and for sure, my one displacement material in my scene seems to be causing this.
The trouble is, I’m convinced I deleted and removed all traces of this displacement material (including in the Material Editor) and yet the problem persisted with this file (I had to go find a previous autosaved version to resolve my issue).
Any update ???
For completeness, I’m using GPU rendering.
