Is it possible to work within max while a v-ray render is in progress? (on the same computer - not in RT mode!). I am trying to transition from vray for sketchup to vray for max. In sketchup you can keep working on the model while rendering… and in Max it seems… you cannot!? And if not, what are …

You can do it in V-ray for Maya, I remember when I switched to Max thinking “wtf, I can’t work and render in the same instance?” It still annoys me to this day that Max is so clunky in that regard. Those are good workarounds though

Try running a spawner on the same pc you are working on and do a DR (untick “use local host”)

It’s technically possible to do it, but for stability reasons, Vlado decided that vray would not be able to interact while rendering. Other engines line corona leaves this possibility to their users. I just get used to it, and find work around like mentioned earlier as I prefer have rock solid soft…

I know when I hit render, I can’t do anything else on my machine, so I am not sure how successful you’ll be doing this.

I am not sure that’ll help; the render will still take all your resources.
