coplaner geometry

does anyone have a hint on how to deal with coplaner geometry (i.e. settings)?

Set your secondary ray bias (in the v-ray global switches) to greater than 0. Usually .001 or .002 will suffice. Bear in mind if the coplanar geometry has different materials, you’re still going to have issues with v-ray not knowing which one to choose.

Thanks, I’ll give that a try.

you can also run the STL check within max, it used to work quite well but im not sure how well it works now

Yeah - run STL then be prepared to weld vertices like crazy at a low weld threshold and probably some remodeling around doorways. Really will cut down on rendering times too.

i remembered when i got my free kohler (forgive the spelling) cd i was happy, then when i saw the crappy models with about 50% of the faces in random order were flipped i sure was let down

In this case the secondary ray bias seemed to work.
