Build 5 RC4
Something funky is going on with Corona scatter in latest build. It’s hard to describe in words, so i just leave the video here. Also attaching scene.

Hi romullus, thank you for the report. You mean that scatter does not update in the viewport when you clear the scale map slot?
No, the slow viewport update is just small nuisance. The real issue is when i scroll through scale mapping modes and then do small changes in noise parameters, notice how unexpectedly scatter is changing in the viewport. That is clearly not how it’s supposed to work.
Hey Romullus,
I am a little confused as to what the issue is here. Even with the video I am struggling to see what is behaving incorrectly..
Would you be able to describe how you would expect the scatter to update in the viewport?
EDIT: We think we’ve figured out what the issues are. Can I confirm the following with you?
Issue 1: After clearing the scale map slot the viewport doesn’t update?
Issue 2: The viewport is not correctly updated after you change a parameter and then change the mode.
Repro steps:
Are there any further issues that we have missed?
Thanks,
Rowan
I quickly checked this, and isn’t it just 3ds Max viewport screwing around with you? If you click on the small + sign in your perspective viewport > Configure Viewports… > Display Performance > disable “Improve Quality Progressively” - is it the same? Or is it fixed now?
This! But the problem is, this isn’t just viewport update thing. It happens in IR too and while “update now” updates viewport, it doesn’t updates IR, which makes things even worse.
That is strange, i always clear checkbox from updae viewports gradually after fresh max install, but for some reason it came back without my consent. Unchecking it only partially solves slow update issue after removing map - update is still slow, it’s just there are no ghosting anymore.
Thanks for testing. It seems we found the issue and it will be quick-fixed. ![]()
It should be fixed in the v5 release.
Thank you!
