Hey,
I’m having an issue on larger renders (Resolution 3500x2100, quality on High) where my CPU would drop from 100% to around 4% during the “Prepass”, bringing the render to a standstill. To fix this I need to restart Revit and drop the resolution to around 2700x1545 (Quality left on High) and start again. I recently upgraded my CPU from an i5-4590 to a Ryzen Threadripper 1950X, I had the same issue with my i5. This makes me think it’s not my CPU. I also have 32gb of DDR4 RAM which I imagine should be enough for any still image?
Another weird thing is if I’m doing a render of the front of a house, I can render one image fine at Resolution 3500x2100, quality on High. If I create a new camera view (still of the front) but from a slightly different angle it wall stall at the “Prepass” stage (Sometimes during “Building light Cache” stage).
This issue isn’t restricted to one project I have done 3 similar projects as of late, one of them can be found here:
I have had the same issue across each project. My gut feel tells me it’s running out of memory but I would have thought 32GB of RAM would be heaps.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks, Nick
