Looks like I’m in the market for a new CPU and motherboard, after my old board appears to have gone to heaven.
Anyway, I’m looking at something like this
(i7 9700K 8 core 3.6)
But wondering what the experts think. Is there a better (bang for buck) processor I should look at?
AMD perhaps? It’s been years since I had an AMD.

The 3700x = a 9900k, the 3900x == a 9900k + 30% speed. They aren’t quite as good for simming in phoenix but in cinebench and the vray benchmark they’re killing the intels for the same cost! They came out on july 7th so you should see them start to appear in the vray benchmark website soon!

3800X is the same price as the 9700k, runs cooler and faster in rendering
You will need an X570 board for it which supports PCIe 4, and you will need 3200 MHz RAM..which will make things even faster
