i hope, this is the right place to post it, cant find a better place.
Most of the time, before i hit render, i spend a lot of time to create IDs for Objects, Materials and afterwards Render Elements. Couldnt find a better way or a tool to get rid of it, maybe there is something, but maybe missed it. i mean the object, material and render ID are working, but the tend to change color from time to time plus i prefer rgb passes.
and to avoid all this struggle i wrote a small mel script, maybe its handy for someone here.
features:
assign IDs to all / selected Objects/Materials in the Scene.
Unique ID for every Object/Material or just one for all.
Create Multi Matte Elements for every ID in the scene (works also without assign them with the help of my script). Avoids duplicated IDs in the Multi Mattes
Sorry Double post - But is there away to JUST to create Multi-mattes from Material ID’s? I don’t want any multi-mattes for Object IDS? Or if not, is there anyway to remove all object IDS
hey, makes total sense. was already implented, just needed two buttons. not the nicest Ui at the moment, but going to fix this in the next days. here is the new version . the link on my blog is also updated.
+ will add a function just to update the current Elements. at the moment, the script is deleting everything called “MM_Mat” MM_Obj" and creating from scratch, so it could happen, that the Outputs are changing.
any other idea for “features” ?
I have created the same thing with my DeeX VRay Arsenal, but i assign ID generated by the name of the object. So the ID is unique and persistent between scene (so in compositing you do not have to deal with new color for matte/mask).
