can someone tell me how i can create my own materials/textures ? and save them?
- i scanned boulders which i can insert in sketch up but is there a way i could safe them as Enscape-Asset? greets
An old thread, but I am encountering the same workflow issue and can’t seem to find any tutorial on best practices for this.
To summarize: for custom assets, the process is straightforward. However, for custom materials, it is less. While using Enscape Materials and adjusting one’s own materials is clear, the best practice for utilizing a personal material library optimized within the Enscape Material Editor is not.
I understand how to export materials in Enscape and, after navigating through illogically named folders, how to re-import them. However, I would prefer to have the optimized material folder readily accessible at all times, similar to the custom assets folder or tab. Any insights on this matter would be greatly appreciated!
I would also like to see a tutorial for best practices using Revit and Sketchup. I could use improvement.
I’m realizing that the ideal workflow just isn’t available at the moment. The most efficient approach would mirror the system used for custom assets, but unfortunately, the current method is far from convenient. At present, there is no way to categorize a personal custom material library aside from relying on traditional folder structures in Explorer.
A more optimal solution would be to integrate a separate tab within the Enscape Material Library specifically for Custom Materials—similar to how custom assets are managed. These Custom Materials would feature a preview (which is currently impossible, as we only have names to rely on) and would be fully categorizable.
To illustrate this idea further, I have provided an image showcasing what I believe would be the optimal setup for this feature.

What a great idea Steven! I have been selectively saving materials I’ve used that worked well but it’s easy to forget about.
Thank you, I think so too. I have been a short time member of this forum, but am disappointed about the involvement of Enscape Chaos itself on these kind of topics.
I like Enscape. A lot. But this lack of interest in and involvement with users make me doubt going to another software next year.
