When exactly did you experience these issue? We did some maintenance yesterday around 10:30 CET. We did notice issues for older clients but fixed those within ~30 minutes.
I’d be expecting everything to work for you at the moment, we can’t see any error messages on our end.
If you’re still experiencing this issue please send us a feedback via the feedback button, so that we can have a closer look at your log files. Please reference this forum post in this case.
@rifkin - the cause of this issue has been identified and fixed by our developers in the meantime. In order to resolve this issue, please delete the folder %temp%\Enscape\Assets and restart Enscape. This will trigger a re-download of the assets.
You can also find the folder via this path: C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Temp\Enscape\Assets\
Please allow us to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused!
Thanks for the quick responses. Things seem to be loading without needing to delete the temp folder.
I know asset preview/loading speed has been discussed quite a bit on here, is that something that is still being worked on? I’d note that asset previews are loading noticeable slower in 2.9 than 3.2 (and 3.2 is not all that speedy.) There still seems to be a lot of weirdness on what previews it has to load and re-load as you scroll up and down through the thumbnails.
@rifkin , in such a case we simply always recommend acquiring the Asset Library offline once, which will then help with the thumbnail loading, substantially actually. Or are you referring to a different “preview”?
I am referring to the thumbnail preview. We have an offline backup and were preparing to distribute that to users before this was fixed.
The issue is, we have some people working on systems at home, some remoting into a dedicated workstation, and some remoting to shared workstations. There isn’t an ideal solution for all scenarios. We have had 100 unique users over the course of a month. A network location does not work for home users - the thumbnails are even worse to populate over VPN. Of course a local path is ideal, but we then need to be sure we update libraries on all those machines when you release updates.
Even in the office (from a network location), the previews take a strangely long time to populate. I’ve posted on this here:
A speedy cloud solution would be easiest for everyone. Without naming names, there are other cloud libraries that seem to do a much better job with previews. I’m not sure why Enscape seems to need to regenerate thumbnails every single time you open the asset window.
Going further, more consideration of multi-user environments and large projects in general would be appreciated. Following this thread, for example -
Thank you @rifkin , I’ve forwarded this once more myself to PM directly - At least we understand the need for cached thumbnails better now as well as why a file path editor is still of course required as well.
