Decal Displacement issue

Hi,

So i have a simple scene (attached) With a ground plane and decal. If i have displacement on both the ground and decal, using the material displacement attribute, everything seems to work. However if I use a vraydisplacement node on the ground object, the decal one no longer works.

Thanks for the report. It seems the VRayDecal’s displacement settings (which are taken from the default displacement settings in the Render Setup) are overridden by the VRayDisplacementMod of the projected-on-object. There seem to be a few issues logged regarding the mixing of the two as well. Either way, these will be fixed when we eventually implement separate displacement settings for the VRayDecal itself.

thanks bud.

if I enable displacement map it “kills” all other ones as seen on attached picture. Also displacement isn’t rendered in scattered decals (with Chaos Scatter).

Need the scene to investigate this.

It seems to work on a simple scene. Maybe a mapping issue? Again, do send the scene.

I sent now (Submission ID# 5DMP-W4GP). sorry for the shitty displacement map - I just wanted to check if its generally working. Please pay attention there’s a larger problem (see description message)
Thank you for attention

1. The VRayDisplacementMod is meant for poly objects, not VRayDecal nodes, so no need to add it; just use the displacement from the material. Otherwise, the main issue is that your decal is overlapping with the ground plane - raise it (from z = -10, to -5) and you’ll get expected results.
2. The displacement indeed is not applied to the scattered objects only in the GPU (I tested on the CPU initially). Logged as VGPU-7159 for dev investigation.
