Hi All,
I thing i have found a bug where when we compare a progressive and bucket render. The RawTotalLight render channel looks different between the two. This is particularly the case when we use a texture in the diffuse slot of the material.
Progressive Render
Bucket Render
You will notice that the Bucket render has slightly more contrast.
BTW I am using the regular CPU render engine. The material is a basic VrayMtl with a texture attached to the diffuse.
The progressive render looks like the correct one to me, based on my experience with Vray on 3dsmax.
I hope the issue can be fixed with the bucket render matching the progressive render.
Best Regards
Can you give us some more information about your setup? Which render elements do you have enabled and some more information about your settings? A scene where this is reproducible would be best.
Ok so i was able to get a more contrasting example done today. I will share my settings screenshots below and also a zip file of the blend file.

Looking at the produced images and values to me the Bucket render seems more correct. It seems progressive does things in a slightly different order when calculating the raw render elements. I have logged in our system but it doesn’t like something simple. I feel like something similar should be also happening in 3ds max if you enable these render elements, but I haven’t tried it yet.
Yea i noticed something similar is happening in max as well.
Blender
3dsmax
RGB render
But now i’m wondering why the RawTotalLight in blender is very contrasted compared to 3dsmax.
I tried my best to match the two scenes with the lights, camera and colour management. But the RGB render is not an exact match. Especially the colours.
