i’ve also included a subsequent version you might want to check out.
The material is a variation on the shellac material in the dispersion.zip file you can download from my dispersion page (see above post for link)
Looks like you’ll also need blur’s multiblend plugin, which you can get at
do a search for multiblend
And I’m using the popular kitchen hdri map from
for some reason I’m using the kitchen_cross.hdr. Not quite sure why I switched to cubic format for this scene.
The scene really needs antialiasing to get good results, which unfortunately slows the rendering down A LOT.
Like you may have already read on my dispersion webpage, its a material that blends together seperate red, green and blue materials, each with slightly different IOR values which when additively blended together produces the colour shift. The greater the difference in IOR values between the red, green and blue submaterials, the greater the colour shift.
Theres a bug where you the material may not render when the files is first loaded. In which case go to the material editor, and drag instanced copies of each submaterial into a new slot in order to ‘wake them up’.

Indeed it´s preety slow rendering, but that gave me an idea, of finishing that using the same idea with compositing.
I´ll try that, and post here any results that may be worth for the comunity ![]()
