Direct visibility override issue

Not sure if it is a bug. I have Corona version7 (Hotfix1)

When I use Direct visibility override, I use to create an almost black background so that when I select the inverted Alpha channel to cut the background out of the Corona rendered image it helps cut back the halo edge issues especially with trees and plants.

So I used the Direct visibility override, I get a partial black background and not a full one. See attached image. Is this a bug? Is there a work around on this issue? I’m also using Corona sun/sky.

Thanks for your help!

Plug pure black Corona color texmap connected through Corona tonemap control to direct visibility override and untick affect by exposure, tone mapping and LUT.

But it should work out of the box like this, shouldn’t it? The empty scene (just scene+camera) would be interesting.

Good Luck

Romullus,

I think I did what you had suggested and it came out the same. See attached. Thanks!

Frood,

This is what happens when there is nothing.

Ok, what I meant is, it would be interesting if you could attach exactly that empty scene so that we can have a look at it

Good Luck

Ah,

let me see what I can do.

Frood,

Let me know if this works. See attached Max2019 Corona Renderer 7(Hotfix1)

Yes, it “works” I see you are using PRG clear sky with volume effect. Unfortunately this setting bleeds into the direct pass. One of two reasons why I consider this feature as not production ready :frowning: The second reason is, that the volume effect goes to the “Rest” element when using light mix.

So the result is expected currently when using such a setup. Side note: your scene has 10051 animation layers. Use a cleaner script (or [this tiny one](https://forum.corona-renderer.com/ !Attention! - Virus in 3ds Max Stocks models!! Read article!!! #msg130003)) to get rid of them. They may cause slowdowns, large scene files and other issues.

Good Luck

Frood,

Yes that clearly works! Thank you! Super bummer the volume effect doesn’t work with it. But I might be able to do away with that option.

So what caused the 10051 animations layers? Thanks again for your help!

All those downloaded assets you have merged into your scene  Many of them are “infested” with animation layers and they get merged silently as they are global tracks.

Good Luck

Didn’t know that, very interesting. Thank you for that insight. I learned two things today. LOL

Enjoy your Holidays!
