DLSS

Hi
I have seen recently multiple videos about the integration of DLSS in Blender
Today I saw a post in V-Ray forum about its integration, they are planning to implement Vantage into the viewport, so since Corona doesnt have a GPU use… could it be integer too??

I take it you mean “can it be integrated too”? (if not, let me know!)

Don’t know yet, we’ll have to let the V-Ray team start the work and then get the info on how it works, to see if this carries across to Corona. Most likely it will not be render engine specific, since it’s about capturing Vantage output and displaying that in the Max viewport, but with such an unusual functionality it is hard to say. Having chatted about the timelines on development in V-Ray, that conversation wouldn’t happen just yet as we’d wait for them to get through solving at least the core technical issues. This will avoid having two teams solve the same problems, effectively having to reinvent the wheel each time.

So it certainly won’t be in Corona 15, and even then quite possibly not in 16 - after all, there are always improvements and refinements to be made in converting a Corona scene to Vantage and supporting as many features as possible there, especially as Vantage adds new functionality itself, and that would take priority. The real-time viewport display is only useful when the conversion to Vantage is working at its best! Plus, it’s possible to just run Vantage as a live display already, just the same as having IR in the VFB; it’s a separate floating window to be sure, but with two monitors that is ok (I always use IR that way myself, rather than in a viewport).

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the answer Tom, V-Ray team responded that they will be planning integration of Vantage, but that doesnt mean Corona needs to.
What about DLSS? Could it be possible?

DLSS is specifically for real-time GPU rendering, taking 1 frame and the frame after it from the GPU rendering buffer and generating these AI calculated in-between frames, so there’s no way that specifically can attach in to Corona as there is no real-time or GPU based rendering in Corona (which is why it is going into Vantage, and naturally a Corona scene once over in Vantage by export or Live Link will then use that DLSS - and already does in fact, you can see the options to use it or not for the real-time rendering, just that Vantage will be updating the version of DLSS that it uses).

Thanks for the info, this clarify the whole subject, I wasnt expecting this to be implemented right now, just wondering how could it be achieved in Corona.
