Dose anyone know if there is any NODE BASED material editor for Vray? Kind of like Mental Mill, or how materials work in Maya?
hmm expensive… are any of those any good do you know? Nodejoe costs more than Zbrush.
I haven’t tried it, but theres also Jerry’s one: http://www.ylilammi.com/sme.shtml
I agree that NodeJoe is costly, but I find it a massive time saver. I wish it was less expensive, so I could buy more than one license, but it does work very well.

as far as I know node joe will be integrated into max in the near future…
thats the rumor going round ![]()
Is there any high probability % of that rumor being true?
That rumor is going around since the release of max6, this on and the one about rewriting the core of max to make everything faster, they just pop up everytime there is a new version of max. ![]()
those rumors ![]()

node joe on steroids
hope it lives up to its promise
Zookeeper looks really nice. I wonder how long it will take ADSK to snap it up?
This one works fine, I use it all the time. Comes highly reccomended.
SME hasnt been updated for a while.
The last supported version is max 9
@Jynks: “Nodejoe costs more than Zbrush”
… were do you buy such a cheap ZBrush? ZooKeeper also brings Nodes to whole Max, something very powerful for all sorts of 3d work!
I also posted this on cgtalk, I guess that autodesk will implement a more advanced version of nodejoe handling more features than shaders
What did you post on CGTalk ? The guess ?
The sad thing with NodeJoe is that since its an AD certified plugin distributed by TurboSquid support is not what it has been.
The sad thing with Zookeeper is, that thanks to all the guesses and rumors nobody is going to invest in any node based plugin, waiting for something to be integrated into Max.
Years a lot of people have been begging for node based editing and now that there are 2 beautiful plugins suddenly “nobody” is interested anymore. I really wonder how 3rd party developers can survive ![]()
Can somebody explain the benifits of thsi to me please.
Why do you all want it so much?
Thanks
Phil
I can’t speak for node based editing for scenes etc, but for building complex materials it is significantly faster and easier to keep track of what is going on when you can layout the whole material on a page. You may just need to try it to get a real sense of it, but NJ speeds up my material work immensely.
