It seems that it takes forever for my DR slaves to help out with rendering. I see the two buckets from my workstation right away, but it can take 20 minutes for my render node buckets to appear.
Any ideas?

Try doing the lightcache pass with dr off, save the lightcache and render from file with dr on, that should work ok..
