DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render + 360VR test all comment welcome

Hi all,

I am trying the new Vray.. still it crashes a bit fast (and some other problems).. but Its getting better whit every update. (complements to the development team)

I used a lamp I designt some time ago for the SketchuCation forum to be used as an tutorial. But its also good to test the light effects and render time (about 30 min.) also used the ambient occlusion. I would like to know what you all think about the overall render quality.. I used basic settings and changed them a little bit.

C&C most welcome,

Thank you.

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

I like all the material and the lights. My only comment is that your AO is to concentrated to much on the corners, try to increase the radius to disperse it a litter bit more. I guess 30 or 40 for the AO radius could be good.

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

I agree with fpedrogo.
And I also feeld the floor texture is too blurred. What material is it? Maybe it could benefit from a larger res texture as the camera is so close to it?

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

Other than been said I think the light fixture on the wall should have a bright light source (even some ps touch will do the trick)
Nice lamp btw

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

Nice lamps, I agree that the floor must be bigger or more specific. What texture it is?

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

The image has so much depth…in my opinion, this is the greatest achievement here. That means, you know how to place lights.
And this is tough.
Cheers,
Stefan

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

Hi all,

thanks for the comments. about the render and the lamp

Stefan:
Thanks for your words I really appreciate your comments I really like the work you make.

40TH
Good point about the light fixture.. I updated it in my last render

Thomthom:
About the floor texture it is Plywood downloaded from CGtextures.. in my last render I sharpened out the texture… what do you think?

Fredrogo:
I changed the AO settings… I agree whit the comment you gave, I have to say that I am so glad to have AO capability in the new Vray.

Pleas share your comments on this new render (render-time 45min.) I tuned the colors / changed light settings to get a more dramatic shadow from the lamps an added some new objects:

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

right on!

Looks good. How about a night shot with very low lighting?

Keep it up.

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

I like this one better. It’s so life full.
Where can I find a lamp like this? Is it high poly?

Good work

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

Great work, but weird floor covering choice. Cracking renders tho!

Tnx

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

Ha-ha…briliant! It was OSB material. Didn’t noticed it in your first image. Need some help with the “parquet” ? ;D

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

owh my nice rendering… and very interesting model

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

excellent rendering.. i like the effect of those lines and shadows.. just one thing. rotate the grain direction of those skirtings (baseboards)

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

I like the creativity in the scene…its has a nice sense of originality to it. One crit is the actual light that is creating those shadows…it is coming from the inside of that “web ball” right? If so, it looks weird to see the inside of it kinda glowing and creating those shadows without really seeimg amy light source. Its being picky, to an otherwise really nice renderings. The plant is awesome too…freebie you found online? Congrats though buddy.

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

Very nice renders you give a great touch of personality, those brick looks very nice and the shadowas from the lamp are great !. keep up the great work. Congrats!

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

Hi All,

Thanks for all the great comments.. Really like to hear your thoughts. So you all found the lamp  It was part of a small series of tuts I did for SketchUcation.

And Stefanq if you have some spare time would be great if you could help me out whit this parquet.

About the direction for the skirting’s you are right Nomeradona.

Steelers05 their is no visible light bulb in the lamp, Beconase without its more faster to edit the light settings otherwise the mesh of the light bulb would be in the way every time I wanted to change the settings. (this is only a small test render, not a real project ;D)

Re: DWanimations VRay 1.48.73 test render

Small tip that can make this easier is to use Su’s outliner. The Way I use it for editing vray lights is by double clicking the lamp and then right click on the Omni light (for example) within the outliner window. It’s simplifies the editing workflow.

Hi 40HT… thanks for sharing  but I did know that trick, I just thought its just a test ;D but thanks anyway
