Enscape 4.18.0 Released

Dear Forum Community,

We’ve just released our latest version Enscape 4.18.0!

Improvements- New Interface Design: Enscape’s interface has been updated with a cleaner, more modern design, improving visual consistency while keeping your workflow familiar and intuitive.

  • Chaos Notification Center: Stay informed directly within Enscape with in-app notifications for tips, feature updates, and important messages, now accessible through a dedicated notification inbox.
  • Enscape to Envision Live Link: Seamlessly continue your work in Envision with a one-click handoff from Enscape - no need for manual exports - making it easier to create high-end animations and cinematic visuals.
  • Complex Scene Support: Improved scalability by removing the 2GB scene size limitation, allowing Enscape to handle larger and more complex projects without serialization-related crashes.
  • Revit 2027 Support: Enscape now supports Revit 2027, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted workflow for users upgrading to the latest version. This update maintains compatibility so you can take full advantage of Revit’s newest features, performance improvements, and stability enhancements without compromising your visualization process.
  • Improved Asset Brush Placement Speed: Placing assets is now significantly faster and more stable.
  • Consistent Light Clustering: Light management now uses the same clustering algorithm whether you are viewing all lights or only visible lights, providing a more consistent and predictable user experience.
  • Intuitive Asset Scaling: The scaling gizmo is now more intuitive. Scaling along the X and Z axes now correctly corresponds to the direction you move your mouse, regardless of the gizmo’s orientation.
  • Impact: “Peak Loads” has been renamed to “Peak Energy Demands” to align with IES terminology.
  • Help Panel: The mode-specific tab is now selected automatically when a GUI mode is activated or changed.
  • Grass: Smoother transition between detailed grass and LOD grass, reducing visible cut-offs especially in orthographic views.
  • Scene Export: The enabled/disabled property of lights is now included when exporting .vrscene files.
  • Security Update: Updated log4net due to vulnerability issue in 3.2.0.

Fixed Bugs- Light Management: Resolved a bug where lights positioned behind other objects would briefly appear when opening the Light Management window.

  • Asset Library: Fixed an issue where Enscape could freeze if the Asset Library hotkey was pressed repeatedly.
  • Material Editor: Fixed Material Editor not always updating Height Map Type when changing materials
  • Material Editor: Fix Material Editor UI is stuck when the current material cannot be saved.
  • Custom Asset Library: Fix custom asset gets corrupted when save fails due to file access permissions.
  • Vectorworks: Fixed asset creation being affected by the active working plane of the project in Vectorworks 2026.
  • Revit: Fixed an issue where faulty materials caused the entire material feature to stop functioning.
  • Revit: Fixed an issue where renamed Cosmos assets were not placed in the same family as previous instances.
  • Archicad: Fixed Archicad 26 being incorrectly listed as a supported version in the Enscape preview.
  • Ray Tracing: Fixed ray-traced artificial lighting not working properly with clearcoat materials when using ReSTIR.
  • Ray Tracing: Fixed hardware ray-traced artificial light issue where block artifacts can occur in low-light reflections.
  • Ray Tracing: Fixed occasionally wrong normal direction.
  • Impact: Rooms with very low heights are no longer incorrectly included in the Energy Use Intensity (EUI) calculation.
  • Veras: Fixed Veras File Save Dialog omitting file extension in certain conditions

Known Issues- Brush tool - Enscape crashes if you paint on a newly created geometry after changing asset density

  • Brush tool - “Preview Selected Area” and “Confirm Placement” buttons get disabled due to distribution changes.
  • Revit - Using Live Camera May Crash Revit

If any questions or further feedback arises, kindly let us know via this thread or by reaching out to support. In case your experience any crashes, freezes or similar, please submit a feedback report with log files directly.

it got very slow at opening any project.

Hi @revitpower , in a case like this, it cannot hurt to forward a support report incl. log files, which will also transfer your machine’s information in order for us to investigate what may be causing this slowdown exactly.

Round Corner has not yet been added to Enscape

Do you generally test the installer of new versions of your product on clean systems or at least on virtual machines (to simulate a clean, newly installed Windows)?

For several versions in a row, the Enscape installer has been doing its job poorly!

After installing Enscape, you need to manually launch Chaos services.
This has never happened before!

Why did you mess up the Enscape installer?!??

Does version 4.18 drop support for Revit 2023? Can you confirm the supported Revit versions with the release of Enscape v4.18?
