Hi everyone,

I did this scene in both Thea and Enscape to compare a little.

What do you think?

Pretty darn close I’d say, you’d be splitting hairs to choose a favorite. Shows the huge progress realtime rendering has made thanks to Enscape.

I agree @Thanh_Chuong , in my opinion enscape glass and mirror materials are far from perfect.

Sounds like a good use case for RTX! [Clemens Musterle](https://forum.enscape3d.com/wcf/index.php?user/67-clemens-musterle/), there are some great ideas in this video. The caustics performance enabled by RTX (as well as DLSS 2.0) is seemingly very impressive. The visuals speak for themselves. With the 3000 cards out now I’m guessing it won’t be long before more than half of Enscape customers own RTX cards. I know you don’t want to make hardware specific rendering features that folks on older cards can’t use, but HW accelerated RT is the future so I wouldn’t hold back just because a few folks won’t have all the bells and whistles in the meantime (AMD have their own hardware accelerated ray tracing cards coming out soon as well, although with less than 10% of market share, they’re not really a big factor either way).

Pretty darn close, though there is definitely an improvement in the GI, AO, and Enscape really falls apart when it comes to refractions. But as realtime technology improves hopefully that will change.

Thea render is ray traced right?

If Enscape can get this close to Thea I would say Enscape is definitely a winner - there is no time wasted on waiting the render noise to clear and you get 95% close to ray traced engine.

@joeykeys yes, Thea is raytraced

I have an RTX5000 and still have issues with refraction and transparent/reflective materials. That is always a comment I get from bosses and clients. Looking forward to any improvements in that department in every release.

Another big difference in the two images is the aliasing in the artwork on the wall behind the table. In the larger image, you can’t really tell too much of a difference but it is very noticeable to me the first smaller preview images. The Thea rendered artwork is smooth and the lines are legible, the Enscape one is a mess. I may be nitpicking but I find this issue all the time when doing walkthroughs or videos with objects that have many small perpendicular elements (grills, louvers, guardrails etc). They always flicker and suffer from the moire effect. Not sure if that is what is going on here and not sure if it can be solved in walkthroughs/videos but at least in still images, Enscape can improve on the aliasing. Or let me know if I am wrong and the enscape image is a different resolution?

In any case, I’m very happy with the level of improvements and upgrades that Enscape provides so hopefully it continues to get better and better!

Agree with other saying that glasses in Enscape are really disappointing. Hope a great implementation will come in the future!

Hey @mark8848 , the difference in the artwork is not moire effect in this case. It’s a simple case of a bump map that is too strong and it distorted the image. I should’ve lowered the bump intensity and I think it would’ve looked better.

PS: I’m also waiting for better refraction and reflection in Enscape’s future.
