Enscape is missing shading after upgrade to the latest version

Hi, I upgraded Enscape to the latest version and then after I opened sketchup and launched Enscape all the surfaces looked flat and had no natural shading that they had before an upgrade. I even imported the same presets I had saved before and still no success. I have 8GB dedicated VRAM and the latest NVIDA P4000 Quadro Series.

Attached are the two images: Before and after an update.

Please help. Thanks.

Welcome to our Forum.

Right away, which version of Enscape are you currently using exactly? Is it our latest release or preview?

Also, is there any chance what so ever that you may have adjusted the sun angle in the “no shading” result? Or has the sun not been moved at all? (Time of day adjusted)

Because to me it also looks like there may have been some so called “light leaking” occurring in the “before” image, which we’ve improved upon on though. This can result in effectively having “less lighting” available in the scene though, so perhaps even allowing the sun to enter the project may help? It generally seems as if the “before” example had sunlight coming in from some angle anyway?

It is best when posting this type of comparison to use the exact same viewpoint and sun angle in addition to the enscape settings. This viewpoint or at least cropping appears to be different

Also, it is expected behavior that when Enscape makes tweaks to their rendering engine it changes how our renderings will look. Usually it’s an improvement but since they are making compromises for real-time rendering, not always. If you need to reproduce the exact same look unfortunately the only recourse is to keep track of the enscape version used and revert to that version.

I don’t think the second image demonstrates a problem with the new render engine or even looks necessarily worse. You may need to adjust your render settings to achieve a similar level of contrast as the first images.
