Enscape Panoramas Appear warped when Viewing in a VR Headset

I was testing out viewing virtual tours in the Meta Quest 3 headset the other day and noticed that the images viewed appeared warped with a fisheye like appearance. This is very visible within the headset and very disorienting. I also wanted to note that this hasn’t always been my experience viewing tours in the VR headset. Initially when the feature first came out I tested it and everything appeared to be working fine.

I just wanted to make the team aware of this issue in case you weren’t currently tracking it.

Hey @dpadmin_jlgarchitects , this is very odd and may be a bug. I cannot reproduce it at the moment with images that we have. Is it possible to share a test image with us to see if we can investigate and check if it results in the same warped state?

Absolutely, I’ll add one of the images from the tour anda link to a copy of the tour in its entirety if that might help. I just jumped back into the Meta Quest 3 headset to make sure everything was updated there are no system updates or no browser updates available at this time so everything on my end appears to be up to date.

The best way I can express the feeling I have when viewing the panorama images within the headset are as though I was standing on top of a hill looking down in each direction. The scene appears to curve away from me off into the horizon like I’m standing on a globe.

The image is too large to be directly attached so here is a link

Thank you! I will send this to our dev team!

By the way, I sent you a private message here in the forums, but maybe you missed it! It would be great to maybe have a short online meeting to connect since you are very active in using the Virtual Tours. You can tell us more how you use the feature and what you need and I can share some of the things we are working on so we become more useful for you!

@dpadmin_jlgarchitects I am happy to report we have figured out the issue with the warping in VR and will be fixing it very soon. It was a simple change that caused it.
I am happy to meet next week, I sent you a message!

I’m also getting warped panoramas when I view them in a Vive Focus Vision HMD. My position is also up off the floor in the images. Has this really been fixed @vasil_garbev ? According to Vive support: “VIVE Focus Vision requires 360° photos with a 2:1 aspect ratio to display a 360-degree spherical view.” Here is my post: Accessing Panos from Vive Focus Vision in a browser - distortion/position off floor - Cloud Rendering :: Issues - Chaos Forum

@dpadmin_jlgarchitects Did you ever get this resolved? I’m getting the same thing with the newer Vive Focus Vision.

You are in the right forum thread now! I read your other post just now. We haven’t had the chance to test specifically with the HTC Vive Vision HMD, which runs a custom HTC Vive Android OS and more importantly a custom Web Browser. When you say you are up off the floor - do you mean the panorama is inverted upside down or something else?

The issue with distorted panoramas was due to the spherical size that distorted the field of view and we had this issue after an update and saw it on Meta Quest 2 and 3 Headsets, but after the update this issue is resolved. Your issue sounds more specific to this headset. Is there an option to install a different web browser and try there? (even just for a test)

Since we do not have the specific Headset here to reproduce the issue, can you record a video or take a screenshot inside the headset so we have more information to work with? A video would be preferable. This page here describes how to do both. https://www.vive.com/us/support/focusvision/category\_howto/taking-screenshots-and-videos.html

Thank you in advance!

Vasil, I can’t private message you a link to the files, I’ll respond via the support request 458742. Thanks, Angelo

You can send me the link to my email, it would be easier. vasil.garbev@chaos.com

I don’t think I have access to the support ticket directly.

Vasil, will do. Just sent it.
