Hello, we are trying to incorporate Enscape videos (as an .mp4) into our firm’s website and for some reason it will not play. Specifically Enscape’s mp4s.
Our site will play other mp4s but for some reason it will not load and play Enscape’s. The file size is only 7.5 MB. We have tried multiple videos and all have failed.
Has anyone had any success or experience with adding Enscape mp4 files to websites? Thanks
Here is information from our web developer:
“There’s usually a setting when exporting that preps the video for web streaming, which means that it allows what’s called a “fast-start”. This basically starts the video when it gets just enough data to stream smoothly.”
Does anyone know anything about this? How can we get Enscape videos to offer this “fast-start”?
At this point I feel like I am talking to my self but we figured out the issue. Hopefully this can help out anyone else who comes across this problem.
It has to do with “fast-start” or the “MOOV atom” placement when exporting. Long story short you want the placement at the beginning to enable the fast-start, but Enscape when exporting and encoding the file places the MOOV atom at the end.
Knowing this there is free converters online or if you have Adobe Premiere, you can export under their traditional h.264 file and it will then place it at the beginning, which will fix the problem and will allow the video to play on websites.
@Demian_Gutberlet Do have any knowledge in this? Shouldn’t the export as “Web” option place the atom at the beginning allowing it to be placed on "web"sites?
I appreciate the input - I’ll discuss this with PM accordingly to see if there is any way for us to move the “MOOV atom” at the end, at least for video exports in “Web” quality.
I’ll know more once I get a definite reply but, there may be a simple reason that we’re currently doing this, and I quote:
“Encoding the MOOV at the end of the file is usually a default operation for video encoders because they tend to operate by writing the output file in one-pass, and the exact contents and size of the MOOV atom can only be known after having written audio and video data entirely because it contains absolute file sizes.”
I should know more after the discussion, and will also then inform you.

@Demian_Gutberlet Sounds great. Thanks for looking into this. Our web guy said sometimes when exporting videos there is an option to for “fast-start.” Perhaps that could be in a future update for Enscape videos or like you said just for the “web” version. Thanks.
@Demian_Gutberlet Just an FYI here is the link to the final result on our website with our Enscape video. It took a lot of code tweaking but we think it was worth it! Again, if the export process from Enscape’s “Web” version could work on a website with no re-exporting that would be wonderful. Thank you!
