Hi,
I have been using Enscape with Rhino for the same project for the past 2 years, and since the last update, every time I open it, it would crash. If I click on ‘ignore error and continue’ , it works but still gives me some errors and slower rendering times. This is what is shown in the Rhino command line:
2023.05.09 10:07:48.804 -04:00 [14] | WARN | API Error: BeginUpdateWorld: Invalid operation (No error)
2023.05.09 10:08:00.543 -04:00 [14] | WARN | API Error: EndUpdateWorld: Invalid operation (No error)
2023.05.09 10:08:38.362 -04:00 [30] | ERROR | Rendering error (GENERIC_GRAPHICS_API_ERROR): ‘Ray traced sun shadow BVH build out of memory.’ occured while at: ‘-2941.653, 9.617121, 86.74656’
Is there any way to avoid this every time I start Enscape?
Thanks
A.
Right away you can of course try deactivating ray tracing via the Enscape “General Settings” you’ll find via the Enscape context menu in Rhino (first tab).
That should already do the trick temporarily - Is there a chance you might’ve been using a version of Enscape prior which did not support ray tracing? Then it would make sense why this issue occurs, as your graphics card memory in this regard is running full with this functionality turned on.
Please also submit a feedback report with logs to our support team, this way we can also identify if there are any specific large textures or such that may be the culprit here, or in case using raytracing with your existing card and project may not be possible.
Meanwhile you could also try reducing the project in complexity where and if possible to see if you can run Enscape again even with ray-tracing enabled.
