Error [V-Ray] [MemoryManagerGpu::releaseUnmappedMemoryFromInstance] 700: Could not release device buffer

Hi,

I am currently trying to render a few images. Last week the same pictures worked fine. I had just made a new variant in sketch Up and adjusted the scenes accordingly (the position of the camera was not changed)
Now I either get this error message :
20.5.2025 11:23:55 Error [V-Ray] [MemoryManagerGpu::releaseUnmappedMemoryFromInstanc e] 700: Could not release device buffer

or the image is simply completely black after a very short rendering process.

What could be the reason? I’m not a pro with Vray yet, but so far my renders have worked.

Thank you very much

Hi again, @melanie_fickers .

To sum up, I advised you to use RTX instead of CUDA while I am investigating the scene.

Now I have news - the error could be avoided after deleting Lamp Ceiling 001 copies. And you will be able to use CUDA.
But since there are a lot of them in your file, consider using RTX and I will keep you posted about the progress of the logged issue [VGPU-6826] in our bug tracking system.

Best regards,
TS

Hello.

I would like to inform you that the issue is fixed since V-Ray 7, update 2 (7.20.00).
