Error when trying to render from 3DS MAX to Chaos Vantage

Hi,

So I ran a render with chaos vantage and it ran well. Then I closed everything and opened up the file again and try to render again through chaos vantage and get this error “ERROR: Local machine is not used for distrubuted rendering and no servers can join!”

And now I can’t render with chaos vantage.

All chaos software is the latest versions. MAX is 2023

So the big issue is that I use one computer but I have two accounts/users.

So I can start User 1 and sending my 3ds max scene to Vantage works fine and I can use GPU rendering.

However if I log into my other user I can’t even use my GPU for rendering. (However I use to be able to)

I’ve gone down the rabbit hole and I can’t seem to change anything.

I’ve gone down the following forums and pages and can’t come up with a solution

Also this forum isn’t letting me upload images so that’s not great.

The following error message appear

[19:10:49.651]Warning : Could no connect to host 127.0.0.1:20701: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
[19:10:49.652] Error : Local machine is not used for distributed rendering and no servers can join!

I’ve tried changing the ports however going through so many forums and sites I’ve seen so many different port numbers its now too confusing.

Just did a complete re-install of both 3DS MAX and Vray and still has an Error : Local machine is not used for distributed rendering and no servers can join!

close to giving up after 4 hours

Hi, thanks for posting. You have to make sure you are able to render with V-Ray GPU. What is the current situation? Are you still able to render with V-Ray GPU and Vantage using your first user but not with the other one? Are you talking about Windows users or Chaos accounts?

Thanks for getting back to me. I’m currently away from my PC until later this evening and will get back to you. In the mean time I’ll answer what I can.

Are you talking about Windows users or Chaos accounts? - I’m talking about Windows Users on the same PC.

Are you still able to render with V-Ray GPU and Vantage using your first user but not with the other one? - Before I re-installed everything yes. I haven’t checked since a fresh install

Hi, could you confirm that you can render from the first Windows user? Please test V-Ray GPU and Vantage.
Also run the same test on the other Windows user and share the results.

So back on my PC and got it working again. The port for DR was 20701 on MAX’s side but chaos vantage had a default port of 30304. Once I set them both to the same port happy days and it works again.

I’ll keep it updated if anything changes.

Same issue happened to me today. It was working fine until morning - GPU rendering with Chaos Vantage. Suddenly it is giving this error. automatically selecting distributed rendering .
How do I avoid it to select it automatically. Now that no rendering is happening anymore. Please help
