I created a new Windows user, and deleted my old one. Anything I downloaded before gives me an error. I changed the path in the Vantage settings.
Is this error in Cosmos inside Vantage or in Cosmos inside V-Ray for 3dsMax ?

Have you moved the old folder according to this docs page? The default download folder is “C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Chaos Cosmos”, so it’s user-based. If you’ve deleted the user without transferring the assets, you may have deleted the assets. If that’s not the case, does Chaos Cosmos’s download path correspond to the new user folder? Make sure you change the path in 3ds Max’s Cosmos Browser. And also, does the error appear when downloading new assets?
The new path is correct, and the old path no longer exists. When I go to download anything I downloaded under the old path, I get that error.
Cosmo is basically bricked until I can get this fixed. Yes, I removed and reinstalled.
Okay, had a convo with the devs about the error, and it’s a 3ds Max error, not a Cosmos one. Try the following:
1. Change the Asset Download Folder (Cosmos Browser > Settings) yet again to the new Path
2. Try forcing all permissions with the new user over the cosmos folder.
3. Was your old folder on a virtual drive (such as OneNote/G-drive)? There’s a similar error in the Microsoft forums here.
Sending us the logs should help, too.
Ref. V-Ray 5 for Rhino 7. Considering both the best performance of V-Ray and the online safety of the computer, where should I save the downloaded Cosmos HDRIs in my computer? Is it Ok to create a new folder like “Chaos Cosmos” in the D: drive of the computer where I store all my rendering project’s working and result files, which are separated with the software in C: drive? Issue with openin Vantage file as config only.
Some the latest files in version 3.00 don’t work and don’t load Vantage settings.
Sometimes the config is saved as 0 bytes.
This error occurred in earlier versions, but you fixed it - Now it’s reappeared in the new version.
Have you noticed any crashes for this specific Vantage session? Sometimes the vantage file is incomplete or empty due to a crash.
Do you use any specific locations for the output - network location or it is a local drive ?
Can you send us the project files (vrscene or for the host platform) ? So we can try to replicate it here. Steps or a video showing the issue would be helpful too. Please attach one of the problematic Vantage files too.
