Exception when trying to render hair and fur with more then 26 segments

Hi,

When I use the hair and fur modifier and try to set the “segments” parameter above 26 then vray throughs an exception when trying to render. Also, the “mr prim” option in the effects settings for hair and fur does not work with vray as it says in the manual. Only the “geometry” option seems to work…

This might be a 3ds Max problem during the generation of the geometry. BTW which 3ds Max version are you using? The mr prim option works fine for me.

I use 3ds max 2011 with service pack 2 installed. Here is the vray logfile:

Yep, that’s a 3ds Max problem, unfortunately - there’s nothing I can do about it on our side. So your only option would be to get the mr prim working. Do you have problems rendering the hair&fur in other scenes? Can you post a scene which doesn’t work for you (or send it to vray@chaosgroup.com)?
