Exposure between 3dsmax and Vantage.

I know it’s already answered somewhere, but would like to know what is the correct way to handle the exposure difference between 3dsmax and vray?
My global exposure in Vray is set to 13.9 EV, how do I set it globally in Vantage?
I did change it under my Vantage camera settings, but as soon as I move and rotate in 3dsmax (perspective view), the Vantage view gets over exposed again.
Don’t know if this makes sense to you?

Toggle auto exposure in Vantage ,maybe is the solution you need.

I did click it, and the view then looks correct.
Problem is when I’m back in 3dsmax and I rotate in the scene the Vantage viewport changes back to over exposed.
I was hoping I can save a scene state or something, but doesn’t look like it?

Everything works fine if I’m in camera views, it’s when I’m in perspective view in 3dsmax that Vantage jumps back to over exposed…

Hi Philip,

Have you tried the new Vantage 3.2.1?

Hi Tashko, yes - this is with the latest Vantage release, but it’s the same exposure issue (for me at least) in all the previous versions.

Vantage doesn’t take the 3dsMax exposure setting in to account, only the camera exposure if I’m correct.
So as soon as you’re in a perspective view the Vantage viewport gets over exposed - even if I set it to auto exposure in Vantage.
As soon as I move in my 3dsmax perspective viewport, the scene gets over exposed again in Vantage

This is all with live link.

The next question is then if the Vantage viewport is directly available in 3dsMax (like Sketchup as per Vlado’s new release video) will:

* Vantage pick up on the environment exposure settings
* Vantage viewport be able to show separate GI/Reflection/Refraction setups as we’re currently able to do in 3dsmax

Thank you!
Physical Camera exposure is not from the supported features and our advice is to use the V-Ray Exposure instead. But it will not reflect/affect the exposure inside Vantage as it is not taken into account in the Live link connection.

You can activate the Auto exposure from the Render Setup > V-Ray Settings > Camera rollout > Auto exposure and then this will activate it inside Vantage too. Then any viewport changes navigation will not reset the exposure setup.

Thanks Tashko, will give it a try.
