faked highlights

hmm, seems that i still don´t have a right workaround for faked highlights.

the hilight glossiness button works good when there is no gi. when you turn on gi the faked glossiness is gone. i just want a normal highlight on round edges without turn on “real” glossy reflections. any ideas ? thanks in advanced…

Hi Metroberlin,

Just make a glossy material as normal and then uncheck ‘trace reflections’ under options. The VRay material then behaves like a standard material. It still doesn’t work unless there is a light source to highlight.

Dan

*bang*..yes, sure..clear…the light… !!! thanks…

Why not just use the Highlight glossyness option as it usually tends to be faster than Refl. glossness?

Dave, can you explain how that works?

maby a bit later if I get a chance, Im under the gun on a current project…

Thanks Dave.

Alexie

If you uncheck ‘trace reflections’ under options, it doesn’t matter if you use Refl. glossiness instead of Hilight glossiness, as they are locked, and when no raytracing is performed, its only the fake hilight being computed.

I dont know if the glossy in that way is being used or not thats why I unlock and just use the Highlight glossy
