Hi,
Is it possible to get the Vray Frame buffer to remember the last used path when loading 3dsmax presets?
Setting the 3dsmax render output file and loading a 3dsmax preset will keep the path and output.
When using the separate render channels option in the Vray Frame Buffer, that path gets stripped on each preset load.
Can the VFB be forced to remember the path?
Thanks
What is the versions of V-Ray and 3dsMax are you are currently using?
I connot reproduce the issue on my side. I have done quick test with V-Ray 3.50.04 for 3dsMax 2017 and it could be noticed that loading different Presets of 3dsMax is correctly setting the output image file.
Hi,
Sorry for the delay. I’ve done a quick video to show what I mean when it loses the path.

This is 3dsmax 2016 & Vray 3.50.04
This seems to work fine here with that version. In you video you do not show how the preset was created. Can you share another video where you show how you create the preset file before loading it?
For me, when I load a preset it replaces the current path of files in the frame buffer rollout with whatever the path was in the preset. I believe his goal is to prevent this. This is in the “separate render channels” area.
This is already possible via V-Ray Presets:
Just disable Override Output Settings roll-out when loading preset and V-Ray will never change output paths in the Frame Buffer rollout.
Hi Svetlozar,
Those vray presets seem to work for the file path, but the 3dsmax preset is able to pull in the exposure control settings for the scene as well (which is needed)
OK, I’ll make a note to remove the path saving for 3dsMax presets.
I don’t know if we have a control over that but we’ll look into it.
Awesome. I always forget about that… nice.
