Filling text has jagged edges

I’m trying to fill some text (simple spline with extrude and the top poly removed). I can’t seem to get the filled liquid to be smooth within the volume. You can see the jagged edges, which seems to stay no matter what the grid cell size is.

Would anyone have any recommendations on how to smooth this out based on my settings or maybe a different way to go about this?

Thanks

From what I understand, the idea is to use the text also as a gizmo to clip the fluid so that it renders within the text only.

yes, you have to use the text geometry as gizmo in the rendering. and don’t forget to use inscribed object voxels in the simulation, otherwise you will have to use push operator for the gizmo, that is inconvenient. actually the voxel mode is set in the liquid preset, if you use the gizmo is the only that have to be set.

Tried to add the text as gizmo, but not getting desirable results. I am using GI (IRR+Brute). Any ideas?

you voxel mode is still circumscribed, change it to inscribed and resimulate, or use push operator for the gizmo if the simulation is too long

When I choose inscribed, the simulation doesn’t look right. Could it be the text geometry? Does it need to have a certain wall thickness?

Thanks for your help.

yes, it’s definitively the text geometry. the internal and external poligons are too near and there is no volume between them. could you remove the external poligons?

Here’s where I’m at now with the liquid letters. I still have some jagged edges and flickering, but I’m hoping an increased grid resolution and higher SPF will fix that.

Some more quick test renders. Rendering with the gizmo is really how you get smooth shapes, an inverted gizmo in this case. You don’t have to crank up the resolution, which I thought would get rid of the jagged edges. I concentrated on a higher SPF instead.

looks better now

I’m running into a small problem with some gizmo flicker. Towards the end of the animation the bottom left of the the U and E are flickering jagged edges every other frame. Not sure what would be causing this. Any ideas?

i think it is the rendering step, by default it is 50%, set it to some lower value

I’m finding the only way to reduce that flickering behavior is to reduce the surface level from .6 to .3. If I go lower it starts to render bits that are outside the letters. It’s the only rendering parameter I found that changed anything.
