Fine tuning the behaviour of cars

Hi,

Is there an option to prevent cars from turning to left, i.e. just to allow them to go straight or turn to right. Also is there a way to set all cars on a path just to go straight rather than adjusting the keep on lane parameter separately to each car. Also how to keep cars in the middle of the lane to prevent two cars getting stuck in side by side on a lane. Also is there a way to stop an individual car for certain petiod of time and then letting it continie after that?

Hello @aksdesign

Is there an option to prevent cars from turning to left, i.e. just to allow them to go straight or turn to right.

No, not at the moment.

Also is there a way to set all cars on a path just to go straight rather than adjusting the keep on lane parameter separately to each car.

Yes, but only partially. By selecting a road, you’ll find the “Road-staying tendency variance” parameter in the “Modifiers” tab:

If you set that value as 1 min. and 1 max (1.00 on both sides), all the vehicles generated on that road will inherit that value. This means that all those vehicles will have a 100% chance of staying on that road at each intersection they encounter.

The problem with this approach is that the vehicles generated in other roads that end up in this one at some point in the simulation, they may have a different value there, as it will depend on the values assigned by their own parent road.

The good news here is that, since version 7, modifying multiple objects became very straightforward, as you can see below:

Also how to keep cars in the middle of the lane to prevent two cars getting stuck in side by side on a lane?

This is a similar case as above, but using the “Inner lane tendency” parameter instead:

Also is there a way to stop an individual car for certain petiod of time and then letting it continie after that?

No, not yet. It is possible to stop it using this trick, but then you cannot let it continue later.

In the future, we plan to fully support this feature and also get more control over the traffic’s behavior by creating a dedicated node to control how the intersections work.
