You’ve already enabled reservoir resampling, but in some areas increased “light tree samples” may help. Not sure if it’s more efficient to do that or to simply use more camera samples.
A trick you could use to see the amount of noise while changing settings in interactive mode is to set the interactive denoiser to only DLSS (secondary “same as primary”) and disable the denoiser from the popup button next to the DLSS slider. This way you should be able to observe the light tree samples effect on noise and FPS. The “View mode” in this same popup may also be useful to isolate a specific type of noise, like GI or direct lighting.
Thanks for the reply - I have raised the light tree samples and camera samples considerably and still a ton of noise. Not sure of any next steps - please let me know if you or your team might have another approach.
I find that scenes rendered in Vantage render out great 85% of the time - but 15% of the time there are just wild pockets of noise that i can never eradicate.
It would probably become cleaner by just disabling light tree (and reservoir resampling as well) and raising resolution at least to qhd, but preferably 4k(it could help with noise on curtains). Also you should check if theres any vraymtl with emissive. If so, then turn it at least to vraylightmtl with direct illumination. And always check the amount of lights inside the vantage log and reduce it to a minimum when you have these issues. Also, you could lower light cache cell size -- it could reduce noise from small spotlights
Regarding the ability to identify the causes, as you pointed out NPG in your initial response, is confusing to me. Is there a tutorial or something that i can reference so i can identify what is causing such flickering issues?
