Fog color error

Hello guys,

Im not sure is this an error or a bug in Vray MAX official 2.4.
but I got this scene with object (water) over a ground. I have set a very simple and typical water shader with refraction 1.33 and fog color added.
Now it seems that when the object intersects another, it makes it totally colored, not like in parts where it is not intersecting (and how I predict it to look).
Affect shadow is ON and doesnt make any different, nor using caustics. Also it doesnt make any difference if I use very low fog value and almost white color, it still does it.

Try decreasing the material’s cutoff value to 0.001.

Thanks DanielBrew but it didnt help to get it work properly.

I can’t reproduce it here. Would you be able to post your scene?

I can’t reproduce it either - a sample scene will be very helpful.

OK, heres the scene.

The shadow bias of your VRaySun was set to 20 cm. Try 0.01 cm.

Excellent that works, thanks DanielBrew!
Although I havent ever encountered such thing, I always keep sun&sky values default, but this is good to keep in mind.

I guess it’s just one of those cases where the default values don’t really work if your scene units are metres. Glad it works now though.

Thank you!

Ive been struggling with this for 2 hours now, changing every setting I could think of back and forth, but just couldnt get rid of the odd looking shadow on my waterobject. I imported both the water object and material from another scene where they looked great - couldnt understand why it wasnt working… The old scene was in cm and the new one is in meters. Changing the suns shadow bias did the trick! The next time i think ill search the forum BEFORE wasting an evening and loosing my mind  Thanks again!
