i cant believe fr has implemented the chamfer edges material, while, chaos, the original makers of the plugin, hasn’t ![]()
Heh. VRay 1.5 should be then delayed for couple of years too
As fR.

FR dirt, fr skin, fr physical cam, fr adaptive qmc…
these guys just took things right out of vray. How pathetic?
and yes I know that the algorythms are written way before, but still..
Well, competition is a good thing…
The VRay Sun/Sky and Physical Camera showed up after people talked about how Maxwell had them (even though the algorithms were written much earlier).
It’s competition that forces software developers to adapt and implement new features… otherwise you end up like Adobe, Autodesk, or Microsoft…
Ummm… exactly! Sometimes these “I dig this software n’ you can shove yours where the sun don’t shine” conversations
kinda reminds me the days when I was nine or something…
Anyways, hail the chosen colors! ![]()
Mare
agreed.
I still love (and hate) some things of fR, to be honest.
Mostly geeky stuff that would hardly make it into a production render, but i love the idea they are there…
Lele
what got me was, not that they picked everything vray had, but the way they described it:
Revolutionary, comlpetely new and from ground up…that is total bs…
Not to mention that the helicoptor picture is done in fr stage 1 r1…
ahhhh that cracks me up. Competition os all good, but man they need to get some original names!
Given their past history it doesn’t surprise me one bit.
finalRender Stage-0 unleashed the first affordable and fast GI solution for 3ds Max
i love these quotes. im assuming since vray had a free version (beta) out to the public before stage-0 came on the market that it was vray who had an even more “first” “affordable” plugin since free is alot more affordable than what i purchased stage-0 for
" we have automated this feature so that you can simply check camera fly and finalRender will calculate the pre-pass for you. Once this is accomplished, you can render out your GI without having to worry about tricks or re-using different sample sets. " or worry about where fR saved it to so that you can save the GI calculation to a dvd and take it to an outside render farm etc etc. Way to take controle from people. and those aqmc controldes look very close to irradiance map controles huh.
“The addition of a physically accurate skylight model brings finalRender Stage-1 R2.0 a new power tool for illuminating scenes in a photo-realistic way that has not been possible before.” hahaha. really? has not been possible before?? has the person who wrote all the quotes for this site been living in a cave for a while?
I just love the wording they use. seems they would/could never admit to any package having a feature before them or a feature better than theirs
“The addition of a physically accurate skylight model brings finalRender Stage-1 R2.0 a new power tool for illuminating scenes in a photo-realistic way that has not been possible before.”
They just mean it wasn’t possible before… with finalRender… It is kinda funny though, by making that statement, they are essentially shitting on their own previous product, which Id wager they boasted COULD create photo-realistic imagery. ![]()
Well,
just let us have a look for it. Some things still seem to be fast in fr.
for example sss and caustix. also those shaders, i would like to see in vray too.
Tom
are you willing to accept all the cebas oddities too ? Would you want vray to dig into your scenes so deep that you are unable to open them after a year ? ![]()
I’m done with cebas. And the blatant marketing bullshit in the announcements is just pissing me off. a revolutionary QMC core ? c’mon…That’s like stepping out on your cities street and scream “COME HERE PPL…i invented a revolution in transport! I call it the “WHEEL” ™(Copyright by me for all ages)(dont mess with me and my patenting skills)”
That’s just incredibly pathetic. Building preset shaders is not a bad idea at all…but i hardly see anything that isnt reproducable in vray (and other chaos plugs like f-edge :P) if you know your beast…
Kind Regards,
Thorsten
lets remember something important:
when vray came out, it was very stable. Still very stable. 95% of the time. And things work as they are expected. In fr stage 1, when it first came out, things didnt work as expected, many things just didnt work. Hance the service pack 1, 2, 3 …
And now they say: true MTD…well question is, what was there before that, they claimed there was MTD in stage 1 too..
my point is, I think chaos team really focuses on releasing a good stable rock solid product, before jumping ahead of themselves. Cebas does opposite…
But having said that, Im all for people trying it out, perhaps there are some cool things we can “borrow” from them too ![]()
So, guyz, don’t worry, will test as soon as I get my hands on it ![]()
8)
dont you mean “final_wheel” ??
“final_wheel”
looks like they are reading the vray wishlist section.
finalRender Stage-0 unleashed the first affordable and fast GI solution for 3ds Max
let me change that into :
finalRender Stage-0 unleashed the first affordable, fast and USELESS GI solution for 3ds Max
Years ago, I bought fR stage-0, did 1 project with and lost so much money on that project due to long rendertimes and persistant rendering problems, that I dumped it right way and bought me Vray 1.08…
The only thing i really lost with dumping fR are the “standard” cylindric lights it provided. They were way faster then the current Vray lights to mimmic neon tubes…
