My Latest…

Could you please let me know how to get the floor surface material to be like the below images? I like the reflection and the white color..but cant seem to get it to work well…

Here is the difference: In my image the floor blends to black as it goes to the horizon…but in the below image it stays white… reflections are awesome but it doesnt work in mine… I know in Scanline Render all I need to do is click reflection>flat mirror… but in Vray I couldnt get it to work… :frowning:

Thanx in advance…

one of the things ive found with glass objects like that is that turning up your bounces on refractions especially helps take some of that black out.

also add some more white cards to the scene might help too

you have to realise that images like that are often, if not always heavy post prosessed..

Hey Da_elf

Would I still need to add white cards if I already have the background set in white color???

Here are some updates… still WIP…

ahh great stuff leo!! ok here goes..
- the color of the perfume, maybe shifting towards more yellow/green like in the reference pic?
- the bottle has very thick walls…if you slim it, the liquid will be more pronounced, its a matter of choice alone.
- the cap, texture is very bland, some plasticky gloss there?
- floor is gettin burned out, so reflection is not clear.

this is a great effort, you can still improve it!! dont give up!
cheers

Hey RoarK.. Thanx for the critix…

you were right on all points.. did some changes… This is what I came up with …

Could anyone help me on this black cap…
Take a look at the below settings for the black cap..
I need it to be more shiny than it is ..
at least I need to make it look like plastic..
and I cant seem to figure out what Im doing wrong…

Thanx in advance…

Leo

try putting a falloff map in the reflection slot … and play around with that …should work a treat .. but untick vray Frensel

Thanx Natty …

I kindda figured out what the problem was… the cap has very sharp edges .. I guess thats what the problem was… (IMO still is a problem … but it may be ok ) :?

I also tried some caustic effect… and this is what I finaly came up with… I would appreciate any critix…

Hope you like it…

Leo

you forgot the price tag

fade the caustics and add the reflections again … it doesn’t look like a product photography now!

Hey guys…

Thanx for the comments…

nvanherpt: should I accept that as a compliment???

Dschaga: I totaly agree with you… I also came up with a solution of getting rid of the shadow… I dont exactly know why .. but in the real images the pictures never have any shadows… maybe because of white cards??? I realy dont know… anyways this is the last image..

Hope you like it…

Leo

Hello Leo,

Great rendering.
But something is wrong in your picture, if your look at the border of the liquid your will see in the photo that the liquid seems to fill the glass.

There are somm threads about it :

Hi Leo,
When a photographer takes photos like these he uses something called a light tent. This is a translucent cloth box which the object can be contained in. There is a hole for the camera lens and lights are positioned around the box to flood it with soft light (check out B&H photo for an example). I created something like this with a chamfered box (normals flipped) and a light emitting Standard material. To simulate the exterior lights shining in I used a circular gradient map with an output in the center color swatch. It worked well and I got results almost identical to these photos. There would be a problem with achieving true caustics in my setup but If you look at the photos there really aren’t any due to how soft the lighting is. I could dig up the file if you like. How is you scene currently set up?

ok, i have grabbed your image and changed it in photoshop a little bit:
copied the layer, blurred it a bit, change the mode of the blurred copy to soft light and added a curve layer to change the contrast a bit. ..then i painted the floor to have very lightweight reflections.

Dschaga - it doesnt look good dude

I prefer the last one from LEO.

Hey guys… Thank you for your critix… please tell me what you think of this last image compared to the other…

3dben : I actually made the fluid flush with the bottle … I guess it didnt seem to give me a problem .. do you think I still should make it smaller than the bottle??

J_Bug: Nice info dude… I never knew that.. I also made a print screen image below… so that you can see what the position of lights and objects are.. I would definitely like to see the file that you have… (if you can take the time to dig it up)

Dschaga: Below you will see the image where I totaly took out all caustic effects.. seems very interesting but the real photos, I posted earlier, seem to have no caustics at all ..
J_Bug is right on the spot with the info he gave us… maybe its all about the light tent .. and maybe thats why the bottle doesnt have any caustics… interesting but I still am not sure if I should or shouldnt have any effects but just go with a reflection on the floor…

looks, good now…

An Artdirector will tell you to fade the reflections where the typo is, because they are mirrored ..they don’t want it, because when your image is such clear and clean, a mirrored text is a heavy foul!

play around with the camera and for that you have to forget the logo on the cap.. it’s not worth to be on the image when it makes cool perspectives impossible.

yeah i agree with Dschaga… falloff reflections will look a lot better.. great job by the way
