Free Blender version based on 7.3?

Seriously, there’s a free version for Blender based on 7.3?
I mean, we can’t even keep up with 3ds Max when it comes to V-Ray, but we pay the same, and now Blender users are getting a newer version than C4D?
Sooner and for free? Why?
7.2 came out many months later after 3DMax< Rhino Sketchup and so on, and DR2 is still very buggy…
Are you doing this on purpose? You hate C4D, right?

I agree with your assessment. We haven’t had any updates for months. It seems like Cinema 4D for Chaos is an inferior product. And besides, I see they haven’t even responded to you.

The Chaos founder said openly and honestly (didn’t expect this) at the last CGConnect that the Cinema community is too small, …. and they wish it were bigger.
That tells you what kind of strategy is behind it.
This may explain why the support has been reduced so much in the last few months, but it has nothing to do with treating loyal customers good.
I think, if you offer only an all-in-one solution, you should support every software equally, or nearly.
Instead of creating new incentives, it seems more important to build a new community around an open-source application. But shouldn’t you take care of your loyal, paying customers first?
I mean, nobody buys a Chaos product just for fun, right? Just want to earn money with it and stay competitive?
Long term, for full potential I can imagine learning 3dMax or choosing another render engine.
Both options are not great and cost a lot of time and money.

I completely agree with you.
Since Chaos has decided to also take on Cinema 4D users, who pay like everyone else, support and updates should go hand in hand.
Unfortunately, I’m no longer old enough or have the time to learn complex software like 3DStudio Max, and I’m forced to stick with Cinema 4D. I’m certainly not happy with how I’m treated as a paying user.

Hi @bozhidar_ivanov I saw you crying on this post, I am interested in your opinion as a developer…

I am only going to say that I am also very disappointed by all of this and we will try to keep improving V-Ray for Cinema4D as much as possible.

Keep up the good work. I hope Cinema will get in future more resources / attention again at Chaos. It’s the only way to grow the community

We also pay for client acquisition and I say this as we see prices hikes for AI tools whether you use them or not. We definitely don’t the chaos ones. I honestly wouldn’t care about any of this stuff if vray for cinema kept pace(we typically wait months after max gets a major update) but also if so many features in cinema weren’t hobbled or broken(how does the displacement override button still not work). The upside is that the blender implementation may be as quick and dirty as cinema’s and folks over there could well be complaining about things not working.

I used max for a number of years and its not great over there either but for different reasons. There is constant speculation as to whether autodesk will kill it off because of how weak its updates.

I think that’s not the way how to reward your loyal customers… And if you’re complaining about a community being too small, then you’ve got to do something about it. Why on earth would new Cinema users switch to V-Ray when things are the way they are? Late updates, sometimes fixings bugs take very long, no promo videos or just a few and half-hearted, just a few tutorials, reduced manuals, not all features from Max…things that make changing to vray easy. V-Ray for Cinema is still pretty good for me, but the whole experience has lost a lot of its appeal…
