Fur on proxies?

Is it possible to apply vray fur to a vrmesh proxy?

It allows me to add it, but I get a horrendous crash when I try to render.

Nope, you can’t apply fur to proxies. Proxy objects are unmodifyable. If you want to do anything to the mesh, it must be done before exporting the proxy.

I knew that. I tried applying it first, but I don’t believe that Fur can be collapsed or otherwise attached to an object and be included in a vrmesh.

Is there a way?

Well, you can’t do this with VRayFur at present, since you can’t make it generate actual (non-render time) geometry. You can try hairFX or something similar (there was a way to do geometry hair with particle flow, as far as I remember).

Ok. Doesn’t look like that will be the answer to my current problem anyway.

Thanks
