Further improvements to CoronaFabricMtl. Variable thread thickness/stiffness, separate appearance parameters for warp and weft

While trying to recreate the fabric from the reference photo (pic. 1), I noticed that CoronaFabricMtl is missing several important physical aspects. In real life, the thread isn’t perfectly stiff; it compresses in thickness where another thread crosses it and flattens at the contact points. Currently, I couldn’t replicate this shape regardless of the parameters tweaked (pic. 2).

Suggestion 1: I suggest adding a “Thread Stiffness” parameter (ideally separate for warp and weft).

  • At 1.0: The thread behaves as it does now (rigid).
  • At 0.0: It compresses at intersections and flattens where it passes over other threads.

Currently, we can only change the color of the warp and weft threads separately. As you can see in the attached reference photo (pic. 1), the warp threads are more reflective and glossy, while the weft threads are more matte.

Suggestion 2: Separate control over all parameters for the warp and weft. It could look similar to the UI mockup in pic.3. Of course, we don’t need two "bumps" But the more parameters are decoupled, the better.
