I’ve made a template “start here” file that my group can load at the beginning of a project and I’m having some problems. For some of the others, all saved images come out as if they were saved in gamma 1.0, when on my computer they save as gamma 2.2 (which is correct). I’ve checked every gamma/lut setting in max and the scene and I can’t figure out what the difference is. Any tips?
Try this.
C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMaxDesign\2015- 64bit\ENU\en-US\defaults
The .ini file should contain following lines:
DisplayGamma=2.200000
Enable=1
DisplayCorrectionMode=1
CorrectColorPickerState=1
CorrectMtlEditorState=1
InputGamma=2.200000
OutputGamma=2.200000
LUTFileName=
DisplayCorrectionPrefMode=1

Hi, where does the image appear wrong? Is it in the VFB, in the Windows picture viewer, in PS, or some other place?
Sometimes wrong gamma values are baked into 3ds Max files - see the very bottom of this article for possible solutions:

Thanks. I’ll try it out and see what happens.
