Which geforce nowadays is best bang for the buck?
I’ll be honest I’m totally frightened nowadays by the power consumption that for example 590 is taking.
Where I live electricity prices are quite high so I got to think about this thing also.
So which one of the geforce family would be best bang for the buck and also isn’t extreme power hog but will serve me well a few years like my 8800GTX 
Or maybe 590 might be a good investment ?
Well it all depends on what you want to do with it?

From my experience, Quadro as nothing more than prices and higher prices.
some years ago, i’ve buy a quadro 4000 + the gforce of the same technology and saw only one difference .
Quadro is working with maxtrem OpenGL driver wich help with AA on wireframe view.
But it was some years ago. Now you didn’t need anymore Maxtrem Drivers with Nitrous.
and maxtrem is direct X like Gforce .
If you need more ram and have money, quadro is a good choise. The electronic part of quadro are better quality maybe and the card is running less hot , but i don’t know if it’s always true today .
But if you want more power for less buck , go with some Gforce. You can buy 4 or more 580gtx for the price of a Quadro . they run VRAYRT faster than a quadro.
From my side, i will never buy again a quadro. Because you can buy the new gforce every years wich is a lot more powerfull than your Quadro from the lasts years . It’s saving your money and keep you in the top perf.
Some Gforce have 3go ram , some quadro 6 … so just take care that 3 is enought for you

My question was only about Geforce family I know that quadro suxs! I had 3 different models in past and never again! Also I’m looking for single card solution… SLI is too much power consumption for my taste.
I got a 2gb Gainward Phantom 560 Ti, it’s fine and it was cheap as chips. Renders about the same speed (rt gpu) as 2x 2.8 ghz quad machines (cpu mode). Depends how much you want to spend, I find everything is fast enough nowadays.
Vlado, if you were given the cash to buy a GTX590 would you buy one? Or would you spend it on 2 x GTX570? Or maybe a GTX580 and keep the change?
Or would you be tempted to get a Quadro 4000?
What do you think would be best for everyday 3DSMax 2012 work with a little RT thrown in?
Two 570s are slightly faster than one 590, at least on our benchmark scene. I would not get the Quadro; it’s way too slow and expensive unless you are rendering on the GPU 24x7 - then you might burn through the geforces pretty quickly without proper cooling. The nice thing about the 590 is that it is one card and requires just one slot - it may be hard to find motherboards that can fit more than one GPU on PCI express.

Great stuff, thanks for that Vlado. Here in the UK 2 x GTX570 is also cheaper than a GTX590, so for us that would appear to be the winner
And energy and heat wise… 2x570 to 1x 590 how does it look like?
I found conflicting reports on this. One site said the 590 had a lower power draw than 2x570 at peak performance, and another said it was the other way around. There’s probably not that much in it.
The 570s will each require 2 x 6-pin power connectors, and the 590 will require 2 x 8-pin power connectors, so you should check on how many free power output cables your PSU has before purchasing.
