Hi,
is there any way to get a light that has colour to affect a toon material rather than the diffuse ramp overriding it?
If I have a toon material with a black/grey/white ramp and have a blue light on one side and white on the other, the areas lit by that blue light will still be black/grey/white
I see there’s a lighting override, but that’s just a global thing as far as I can see, rather than light specific.

Thanks,
Steve
Apparently yes is the answer, although in the oddest way.
It doesn’t work immediately and I can’t explain why, but if you check the box for ‘replace light colour’, set it to a colour and some number for blend, then it’ll start working and you can turn off the ‘replace light colour’ checkbox.
Weird stuff indeed
Wow, you are right. I’ll log this.
LOL, it’s so funny…I get used to trying the weirdest random things to troubleshoot stuff, and there’s mostly an explanation for it, then something like this comes along that seemingly defies all logic
Ah, nevermind - it’s not a bug. The Blend intensity/mode parameters work independently (not only on the override). So you just need to set it to 1 for the colored lights to work.
Well yeah, it’s not a bug, but I definitely deserve a year’s free sub for pointing out an embarrassingly glaring oversight…no?..maybe?..just a little bit?
Hi,
not sure if I’m understanding correctly - it does give me coloured lighting but just whatever the colour I set in the material, not from the lights themselves.
In the example attached it would be useful to have the red and green light affect the scene - but it only take the luminance of those lights - just ignores any colour from them?
Thanks!
You have ‘replace light colour’ checked, so uncheck that box and it’ll work. The only parameter affecting it is the blend intensity.
Best idea generally, with stuff like this, is to attach a simple scene so it’s easier to investigate
Ah, thanks - I could have sworn I’d already tried it that way.
Got it working now, thanks!
