glass AA problem + also caustic problem

ive tried every every AA filter, ive turned on sub pixel, ive turned on clamp which makes the highlights go away altogether which looks wrong. ive got reflection and refraction depth to 20 each.

on the caustics side ive got 40,000 subdivs on 2 lights and i still get this ugly result.

What are your AA/caustics settings?

Vlado

adaptive DMC min/max 15/40 was one setting i tried,
the caustics are 1" search distance, 60 max photons

For the caustics, you can try to raise the max. photons to 120 or more; for the AA, does the glass material have any fog color? It might help to tone down the refractions.

Vlado

yeah there is fog. i always build my glass textures the same was egz_glass was engineered

i think i fixed it. i just added rum and coke

Yeah, that usually works when all else fails

did a search for ice but couldnt find those old ice posts on this forum.

Da_elf- it looks like you have some bad geometry.
I can see in your grey render of the glass some dark areas which look pretty dodgy

getting the rum shader right now

do you poor yourself a glass each time to compare the render to real life ?

funny enough…

opps. spilt some

Shame on you!
